Apprentice Lineman (Chestertown)

Location: Chestertown District Office, 611 Morgnec Rd, Chestertown, MD 21620

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Lineman at our Chestertown District Office. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in building a career in the electric utility industry.

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent is preferred. Courses in electricity are desirable.

Experience:

Will have six (6) months on-the-job training. Applicants with mechanical, technical and computer skills are preferred. Successful applicant will be required to enroll in the Northwest Lineman's College Power Delivery Program and complete the program within four (4) years.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

A basic knowledge of electricity is desirable. Should be able, in a reasonable time, to develop knowledge on cooperative construction specifications.

Should have the ability to learn the technique of pole climbing and the proper and safe use of tools and equipment, for both overhead and underground lines which are de-energized. Must have a valid Maryland Class "A Restricted" or equivalent driver's license and have passed a written examination and road test as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Working Conditions:

Works outside under various weather conditions and subject to irregular hours for emergencies. Required to reside within a twenty-seven (27) mile radius from the district office, in order to be available in case of outages.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds and will be required to bend, stoop, reach, extend the body, lift various objects, and climb poles.
