Rogers Group Inc. is seeking a Groundman (general labor) for our asphalt plant operations located in Dayton, TN/Harriman, TN/Crab Orchard, TN/Madisonville, TN. This position involves manual labor, possible equipment operation assistance, and ensuring that the plant runs smoothly. Must be willing to travel to each plant depending on where the need is.
The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising emphasis on safety excellence, be a self-starter and will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
- Ensure that materials are stored properly to maintain quality and prevent contamination.
- Transport materials to different areas of the plant as needed.
- Operate basic machinery or tools, such as forklifts or shovels, to move materials and equipment around the plant.
- Routine equipment/plant maintenance
- Involved with plant improvement projects
- Monitor the flow of material through the plant, ensuring that there are no blockages or issues with material movement.
- Report equipment problems and identify them to management.
- Assist other workers as needed or directed and other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
- 1+ years of experience operating a plant preferred.
- Previous fixed plant maintenance or related industry experience is required.
- Knowledge of equipment.
- Able to do safety and maintenance inspections throughout the day.
- Capable of demonstrating equipment and troubleshooting knowledge.
- Ability to understand basic safety and work instruction.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
- Good organizational, scheduling and time management skills.
- Welding experience helpful along with general maintenance and repair abilities.
- Experience in heavy equipment operation a plus, but not required.
- Team player mentality.
- Working outdoors in varied weather conditions with the probability of dust, noise, heat, and cold.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
