We are looking for a Journeyman Lineman in our Lamar, Colorado location. Southeast Colorado Power Association (SECPA) is a member-owned rural electric cooperative that provides electric service to over 10,500 AMI meters at 55MW peak. The 13,000 square mile service territory covers all or parts of 11 southeast Colorado counties with 5700 energized line miles (14.4kV, 24.9kV, 69kV). Position Responsibilities: Performs all types of electric line construction, retirement, and maintenance on energized or de-energized lines, with or without direct supervision, in conformance with Cooperative specifications. At times, the journeyman lineman will supervise a small line crew, plan, lay out and explain jobs assigned and be responsible for the completion of such jobs in a safe, economical, and efficient manner. Complete appropriate documentation and record keeping in a timely manner. Operate heavy machines and equipment, power and hand tools. Perform trouble shooting for outages.
Minimum Qualifications: Must have high school diploma or equivalent. The journeyman lineman must have completed a Journeyman Lineman training program proven by certification / confirmation from previous employer. Must be willing to learn and obey all OSHA regulations and safety rules necessary to perform the job. Must be able to learn and apply CPR and first aid techniques. Must possess knowledge of RUS spec's and material uses and be capable of operating a boom truck and aerial device. It is important to understand how to operate a two-way radio under established procedure and FCC rules. Must have a valid, non-restricted Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be able to obtain CDL within sixty days. Must be willing to accept duty calls at any time of the day or night. Must live within 60 miles (as the crow flies) to the Lamar office/warehouse in order to respond to trouble calls in a timely manner.
Essential Physical & Mental Demands: Tasks involve working in adverse weather, repetitive lifting, exposure to noise and potentially dangerous conditions. Successful applicant must be physically able to accomplish duties, possess an aptitude for line work, and maintain a neat clean appearance.
