This is a safety-sensitive job for purposes of the Arkansas/Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Amendment.

Purpose:

To provide right-of-way clearing, and groundwork necessary for construction and maintenance of electric distribution system.

Responsibilities:

Within the limits of approved board policies, operating guides and procedures, approved work plans and budgets and specific delegation from the Right-of-Way Foreman, the Right-of-Way Groundman assumes the responsibility for the following activities, recognizing the continuing responsibility of this position for developing and maintaining a favorable Cooperative image consistent with the Cooperative Strategic Goals:

As a Right-of-Way Groundman:

  • Learn the methods and use of equipment in tree trimming right-of-way clearing and control.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations and immediately reports all accidents to the assigned supervisor.
  • Operates Transportation equipment, when required, completing the necessary safety and mileage reports.
  • Uses two-way radio in accordance with Co-op and FCC regulations.
  • Assist linemen on distribution lines in the capacity of a groundman.
  • Clears distribution lines of trees and brush.
  • Clears brush by hand on hills and in hard-to-reach areas.
  • To remove and chip brush and trees along right-of-way with brush chipper truck.
  • Within the limits of this classification, perform any other activity when called upon.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Skills:

  • Must have legible handwriting.
  • Must hold a valid CDL-Class A driver's license.
  • Must comply with all general job requirements.

Abilities:

  • Must be able to communicate with the public and co-workers.
  • Must be able to perform work by following simple instructions.
  • Must have sufficient physical health to perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the job.
  • Must be available for call outs and willing to work extra and irregular hours.

Working Conditions:

Employee required to work indoors and outdoors, with exposure to heat and cold.

Employee shall not be required to work outdoors in rainy or other inclement weather, except when the cooperative finds it necessary due to an emergency.

Normal working hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday, between the limits of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Education and/or Experience:

This job requires reading, writing and mathematics, therefore, a high school diploma or the equivalent is preferred, but not required.
