Apprentice Lineman

Applicants in this position will be registered in the DOL Line Maintainer Apprentice program and be required to complete coursework through the Merchant's program.


Previous linework experience and school completion may be given as credit into the program.


Seeking individuals that have the following skills and/or knowledge:

  • Ability to troubleshoot and have strong critical thinking skills.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service.
  • Ability to learn and maintain a high level of technical information and education in regard to High Voltage Linework.
  • Knowledge or ability to learn the operation of heavy machine equipment (trencher, backhoe, basket truck, etc.)
  • Exhibit a habit of continuous learning.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of applicable traffic laws and rules governing safe driving practices. 
  • Ability to meet testing and hour requirements for the Registered Apprentice Lineman program.


Other position requirements:

  • Have and maintain a CDL Class A driver’s license (or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire date).
  • This position has a residency requirement of 30 minute drive time of the Seminole or Wetumka office (I-40 and Us 377 intersection). Applicants that live outside of the mile radius will have 6 months from hire date to move within the requirement.     
  • Qualified applicants must have a High School diploma or GED. 
  • Applicant must also pass pre-employment DOT physical, background check, and, DOT drug screen.
