SUMMARY
This position operates all line equipment used in construction, maintenance and removal of overhead and underground power lines. Performs substation maintenance, construction and switching in substations for both distribution and transmission voltages. Repairs and replaces overhead transmission and distribution power lines and associated equipment. De-energizes and ground power lines and equipment to permit safe working conditions. Repairs and trouble shoots underground lines and equipment. Climbs poles and uses a bucket which is attached to truck mounted booms and cranes. Performs work in a safe manner in conformance with all applicable regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience: Completion of an approved apprentice program for electrical utility journeyman linemen is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with members or employees of organization.
MATH SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Job requires specific computer skills. May be required to use various applications including database, spreadsheet, word processing, communicate by e-mail and use scheduling software. Must understand how to use software programs which may include outage management, power quality, AMI metering, CIS software and other various software programs for SCADA Controls.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES and LICENSES This position requires completion of a Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship from an approved apprentice program, for electrical utility journeyman linemen. An Oregon Class “A” CDL License is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate since work is done around noisy equipment. The employee frequently works near highways, streets and on various terrains. Extensive and continuous exposure to hazardous conditions and extreme weather conditions. Possibility of serious injury or illness if proper precautions are not taken. Exposure to safety hazards, disease or contamination results in chance for lost time accidents.
