Apprentice Lineman

Job Overview:

Primoris T&D is seeking Overhead Lineman Apprentices Levels 1–8 to join our team in the Port Richey, FL area. This position assists experienced line crews with the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical distribution systems. Apprentice level will be determined based on previous training, experience, and demonstrated skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical distribution lines.
  • Assist linemen with setting poles, framing poles, installing crossarms, insulators, conductors, transformers, and other distribution equipment.
  • Perform groundwork and provide support to line crews during daily operations.
  • Assist with pulling, sagging, and installing overhead conductor.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment used in electrical distribution construction.
  • Learn and follow proper climbing, rigging, grounding, and electrical safety procedures.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing materials and equipment.
  • Perform jobsite setup, cleanup, and traffic-control duties as needed.
  • Work from the ground and at elevated heights as training and apprentice level permit.
  • Follow all company, customer, OSHA, and utility safety requirements.
  • Participate in required safety meetings and training.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Previous overhead electrical distribution or utility construction experience preferred; experience requirements will vary based on apprentice level.
  • Ability and willingness to progress through an apprenticeship program and learn the overhead line trade.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working at heights.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more as required.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in heat, rain, and other changing weather conditions.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL A is required.
  • Must be willing to travel or work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and emergency restoration assignments when needed.
  • Must meet all company and customer safety and employment requirements.

Preferred Experience:

  • Overhead distribution construction or maintenance.
  • Utility or power-line apprenticeship training.
  • Pole climbing and basic rigging experience.
  • CDL A license and experience operating utility construction equipment.
